Parambulator helps BIM teams apply, update, remove, and export parameter schema packs from one reviewed Revit workflow. It keeps model edits intentional and turns the same schema definitions into IFC mapping and IDS files when the deliverable calls for them.

Functionality

  • Apply bundled or custom schema packs with curated Revit category and instance/type binding metadata.
  • Add shared parameters to active Revit models, selected model elements, project files, or family files.
  • Update full parameter settings from the reviewed schema, update configured values only, or remove selected parameters with a final warning before anything is deleted.
  • Edit parameter settings in the review UI for the current Revit session without rewriting schema JSON files.
  • Optionally export selected schema packs to Revit IFC property set mapping TXT and IDS XML files during the Apply workflow.
  • Generate IDS requirement XML from the same reviewed schema definitions used for parameter work.
  • Review selected schema packs, values, IFC entity mapping, matching categories, target, operation, and skipped rows before changes are written.

Workflow

  1. Open Parambulator from Revit with a model active.
  2. Select one or more bundled, local, or custom schema packs.
  3. Adjust names, values, binding choices, and supported metadata for the current run.
  4. Choose whether to apply to the current project, selected elements, a selected project file, or a selected family file.
  5. Choose Add, Update, Remove, Update value, or No-Op, optionally enable IFC mapping and IDS XML export, then review the final affected-elements and exported-file summaries after Apply completes.

Built For BIM Standards

Parambulator is aimed at teams maintaining reliable Revit parameter standards across projects, templates, libraries, and model handoff deliverables. The review screen makes schema changes visible before anything is written.

For IFC deliverables, Parambulator can export a Revit IFC property set mapping file and IDS XML from the selected schema packs during the same Apply run. No-Op is available when the team only wants the IFC and IDS files without changing Revit parameters.

Automation commands support batch and launcher-driven workflows for current projects, selected elements, selected project files, selected family files, and IFC export targets.
